Ella May Davis

  Mrs. Howard (Ella May) Davis of 1352 Logan Avenue, Tyrone, died at 
8:25 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, 1957, at the Snyder Nursing Home in 
Altoona.  She had been a guest at the home since December, 1956.
  She was born on April 8, 1873 at Arch Springs, Sinking Valley, a 
daughter of William and Mary Ann (Fetterhoof) Shaffer.  She was married 
to J. Howard Davis on March 17, 1897, at Shaffersville, by the Rev. 
Steven Traver.  He preceded her in death on April 12, 1941.
  Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John (Esther) Rudy of Tyrone and 
Mrs. George (Mary Belle) Owens of Tyrone, R. D. 1.  There are four 
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She was the last 
surviving member of her immediate family.
  Mrs. Davis was a lifelong member of the Christ Lutheran Church of 
Waterstreet and a member of the Women's Missionary Society of that 
church.
  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, at 2:30 p.m. at 
the Grove funeral home in Alexandria.  The Rev. John Swavely will 
officiate.  Interment will be made at the Shaffersville Cemetery.  
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. on Friday.
