Mrs. Isabella Davis At 7 o'clock Tuesday evening Mrs. Isabella Davis, a much respected resident of the First ward, died at her home, 702 Lexington avenue, after an illness which extended over a period of four years. Death was the result of diseases incident to advanced years. The maiden name of the deceased was Murke and she was born at Blairsville, Indiana county. She was a granddaughter of Charles Malone, who was one of the early settlers of what is now Blair county. Her grandmother and the grandmother of the late Governor Andrew G. Curtin were sisters and much of Mrs. Davis's early life was passed in Bellefonte. Her husband, Philip J. Davis, was an engineer in the employ of the Pennsylvania railroad company and lost his life near Duncansville when the boiler of engine 46 blew up. This was in 1868 and the next year Mrs. Davis became a resident of this city and since resided here. She endeared herself to many by her excellent qualities of heart and mind. Her memory was remarkable in that she could recall distinctly many of the occurrences of the early days of the county. Surviving her are these children: Mrs. A. J. McHugh, William A., Harry J., Emmet and Mary, all of this city, and Sister Charles Regina, of Pittsburg. She also leaves one grand-daughter, Marie Vaughn who made her home with her. Mrs. Davis was also related to Dr. P. J. Malone, Mrs. Robert Adams and Mrs. John Glass, all of this city. On her husband's side of the house there is but one brother living, David L. Davis, of Nanty-glo, Cambria county. Mrs. Davis was a member of St. John's Catholic church, ever attentive to her church duties a good friend, a loving wife and mother. Davis will take place from her late home, 702 Lexington avenue, at 8.30 o'clock Friday morning and proceed to St. John's Catholic church, where services will be conducted at 9 o'clock. The cortege will leave her late residence, 702 Lexington avenue, at 8.40 and proceed at St. John's Pro-Cathedral, where mass of requiem will be celebrated at 9 o'clock. Interment will follow in St. John's cemetery.
