Mr. John Davis, father of our esteemed townsmen Messrs. Jerry and Kessler Davis, died at the residence of the latter, Fourth avenue and Fourteenth street, on Saturday morning at 2 o'clock, aged 76 years and 2 days Mr. Davis was one of the oldest citizens in Altoona, having resided here for the past thirty years. He was a blacksmith by trade and for many years was employed in the company's shops, but had done nothing for a number of years past. He was only sick about three weeks. The cause of his death was general debility and old age. He was a consistent member of the United Brethren church and was esteemed and respected by all who knew him.
