Death of an Aged Citizen.

Mr. John Davis, father of our esteemed townsmen Messrs. Jerry and
Kessler Davis, died at the residence of the latter, Fourth avenue and
Fourteenth street, on Saturday morning at 2 o'clock, aged 76 years and
2 days  Mr. Davis was one of the oldest citizens in Altoona, having
resided here for the past thirty years.  He was a blacksmith by trade
and for many years was employed in the company's shops, but had done
nothing for a number of years past.  He was only sick about three
weeks.  The cause of his death was general debility and old age.  He
was a consistent member of the United Brethren church and was esteemed
and respected by all who knew him.
