Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Defebaugh Passes to the Other Side. In the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Defebaugh, which occurred at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. P. W. Ake, in Williamsburg, on Tuesday, July 4, that town loses one of its oldest and best known residents. Mrs. Defebaugh had been confined to her room by reason of ill-health for several months, and for a number of weeks was unable to leave her bed. Her death was due, primarily, to the infirmities of old age, she having been born July 4, 1824, so that she had exactly completed her 75th year when the summons came to exchange worlds. She was the widow of the late James E. Defebaugh, at one time a leading merchant of Williamsburg, and was united to him in marriage March 7, 1848, living with him happily until his death, a number of years ago. She was the mother of seven children, Mrs. Annie Fulton, of Marysville, Kansas; Mrs. Marion Ake, of Williamsburg; Mrs. Ella Leland, now deceased; James E., editor of the Timberman, Chicago; Mrs. Lizzie Graves, of DesMoines, Iowa; Edgar H., of Louisville, Kentucky; and Minerva and Jessie Belle, both of whom died in infancy. Her sister, Mrs. Hoke and son, with Misses Marion Fulton and Leland, and brother, and Mr. Edgar Defebaugh were with her when the end came. He son James E., is at present in Europe. The interment took place in the Presbyterian cemetery at Williamsburg. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. C. Kelly. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Friday, July 7, 1899
