Deceased was born at Genoa, Italy, on May 7, 1855. He spent part of his early life with an uncle in Germany and came to this country on June 24, 1879. Prior to leaving his native land he served with the Italian artillery and was given a certificate for superior marksmanship. He was united in marriage on July 16, 1881 with Miss Jennie Cuneo who survives him with the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Anna Cuneo of Pittsburgh, Lawrence of Detroit, Mich.; Lieutenant John A. of the Fifty-second United States infantry in France, Rose and Augustus at home. One daughter, Mamie, preceded him to the grave. Mr. Deferie came with his family to Tyrone in 1896 and had been most successful in business. His high standard of square deal and honesty made him many fast friends here and it is with general regret that the community hears of his demise. He retired from active business about six years ago with a good share of this world's good, having accumulated considerable real estate. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic church and St. Gregory council No. 1218 Knights of Columbus. Requiem mass will be said by Father Looney in St. Matthew's church tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock. Interment will be made in Oak Grove cemetery.
