ELIZABETH DEHAVEN Widow of Wesley Dehaven died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. S. Young,320 Fourth avenue, at 12:50 o'clock, on Thursday afternoon [April 23], of cancer of the stomach, with which she been suffering since last November. Deceased was born in Trough Creek, [Huntingdon Co, PA] August 7, 1837, her maiden name being Elizabeth Kerns. She had resided in this city for the past fourteen years, was a member of the United Brethren church and was esteemed by all who knew her. She was married on March 26, 1857, to [John] Wesley DeHaven, who preceded her to the grave fourteen years ago. She is survived by these children: Mrs. John Hughes, Mrs. Robert Crawford and Albert Hugh DeHaven, all of Bennington; E. J. [Edward] of Johnstown, James M., Harry W., and Mrs. F. S. Young of Altoona. She is also survived by one brother, Henry Kerns of New Florence, and by three sisters, Mrs. Rachel Treese, Mrs. Hettie Reed of Altoona and Mrs. Emma Helsel of Hollidaysburg, and also by a number of grandchildren. Altoona Mirror, 24 Apr 1908, kindness of A. Whiteman. The funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth A. DeHaven will be held tomorrow afternoon. The remains will be taken from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. F. S. Young of 320 Third [sic] avenue and proceed to the Second United Brethren church, where services will be conducted. Interment will follow in Fairview cemetery.
