All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ MICHAELANGELO DEMATTIS Michaelangelo Demattis, father of Guy Demattis, proprietor of the Hotel Rome, Ninth avenue and Ninth street, died at that hostelry last evening at 6 o'clock, of a complication of diseases, following a lengthy illness. He had been a resident of this city fifteen years and was retired, making his home with his son. Mr. Demattis was born in Italy, May 6, 1837, and on December 6, 1867, was wedded to Miss Mary Josephine Damartos, in their native land. His wife died several years ago and he is survived by three sons, Guy, this city; James and Nicholas, both of New York city, and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Pannone, Newark, N.J. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic church. Twenty-seven grandchildren and two great- grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be announced later.
