The many friends of this popular young gentleman were painfully surprised last evening by the unexpected announcement of his death. He was stricken with typhoid fever about the first of the month, but as that was not generally known among his acquaintances the sad termination of his illness came without warning to most of them. His wife was stricken with the disease and while nursing her he contracted it. The deceased was born in Chest township, Cambria county, on July 3, 1862. He was brought to this city by his parents when an infant and lived here twelve years, when the family moved to Cambria county, returning to this city a few years later. For the past four years Mr. Denny was employed as chief clerk in Gansman's clothing house. He was married on June 25, 1891, to Miss Theresa Bradley of Gallitzin, who with one child survives him. He also leaves his parents, Matthew and Mary Denny, of 2323 West Chestnut avenue, and five sisters and four brothers, as follows: Misses Mollie, Annie, Matilda, Stella and Loretto, all at home, and J. B. of Ebensburg, W. C. of Altoona, J. G., a student in Mount St. Mary's seminary, Cincinnati, and Edward I., at home. Mr. Denny was a fine musician and until a short time ago was director of the Sacred heart choir and instructor of the Emerald band. He was also connected with St. John's church. He was a member of Carroll council No. 132, Young Men's institute. The funeral will take place on Monday morning from the late residence of the deceased, 51 Washington avenue. Requiem mass will be celebrated at St. John's church; interment in St. John's cemetery. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., November 10, 1894
