On the same morning [Saturday] death also ended the suffering of Harry, son of Mr. Michael Derham, aged 5 years, who was also a victim of the same disease [scarlet fever]. What makes the death of this boy more painful was the fact that he was greatly attached to his father who has been blind for several years, having had his sight destroyed by a premature blast in the ore banks, near this town, and the closing of the eyes of his dear child has drawn another dark cloud over his sightless orbs. "-- night shall be in heaven, no gathering gloom; -- shall fall in sadness O'er the tomb."
