NEWRY NOTES.

We are very sorry to be called upon to chronicle the death of one just
in the bloom of manhood.  Eli, son of Andrew Derno, of Blair township,
aged 17 years and 2 months, passed away quietly to a land beyond, on
Tuesday morning, and will be buried in the Lutheran cemetery at 10
a.m., Thursday

NEWRY NOTES.

The funeral of Eli Derno, son of Andrew Derno, which took place here
at 10 a.m. on Thursday last, was witnessed by a large crowd of
sorrowing and sympathizing friends.  The church was crowded, and many
persons shed tears for the dead and for the bereaved family.  One of
the clergy who was officiating broke down with sorrow and grief during
his remarks, for the young man was well known to be a very upright and
promising young man, and the bereaved family, consisting of father and
mother, two sisters and a brother, have the sympathy of the entire
community.
