H. Whiteleather, West Second street. He has been ill since December 3, with heart trouble but had been confined to his bed but one week. Daniel Deter was born January 23, 1840, in Centre county, the son of John and Catherine Nihart Deter, and has resided in Blair county for thirty-eight years. He was a well known Civil war veteran enlisting in 1861 and serving until the close of the war as a member of the 146th Pennsylvania Bucktails, of the old 1st corps. He was a member of the G.A.R., Robert M. Johnson Post at Williamsburg, also a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Williamsburg. He is survived by two brothers and one sister as follows: John, of Tyrone; Perry, of Union Furnace; and Mrs. Joel Hicks, of Sunbury; and by these children, Mrs. Mary Lockhart and Mrs. Whiteleather, both of Williamsburg, James of Royer and Howard of Elmira, N.Y. Mr. Deter was of a kindly disposition and will be greatly missed in this vicinity. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church. Interment will be made at Royer. Altoona Tribune, Monday, February 10, 1919, page 11 The funeral of Daniel Deter, a Civil war veteran, who died Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Whiteleather, on Second street, of a complication of diseases superinduced by heart trouble, occurred at the Methodist Episcopal church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, services conducted by his pastor, Dr. C.
