All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ CLAYSBURG MAN TAKES OWN LIFE George Deterline, aged 59, of Claysburg R.D. 1, who was to have been admitted to a hospital today for treatment after being in ill health for some time, took his own life by hanging Sunday afternoon at 2.45 o'clock at the home of his step-father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Isaiah Weyandt. Deputy Coroner Edgar G. Walls reported that Mr. Deterline had gone to his mother's farm for dinner and later for a walk about the farm. When he did not return his mother went to look for him. After checking the orchard Mrs. Weyandt passed by the barn and saw the body hanging from a rafter. She immediately went into the house and notified her husband, who released the body. Mr. Detterline was born in Claysburg Jun 18, 1899, a son of Jesse and Lucy (Welch) Detterline. He was married to Gertrude Helsel. Surviving are his wife, his mother and step-father and the following sons and daughter: Kathleen, Oscar, Sylvia, Floyd, Glenn and Paul, all at home, and one half-brother, Chester Knisely of Claysburg.
