FRANK DETWILER Spanish influenza claimed its first victim in the borough of Roaring Spring on Sunday evening, when Mrs. Frank Detwiler, died at her home on New street, following an illness of less than a week. The entire Detwiler family including Mr. and Mrs. Detwiler and three small children were confined to their beds with the disease at one time, all being serious. Mrs. Detwiler developed pneumonia and despite the constant attention of a physician passed away. She was a daughter of Harry and Myrtle Dick of Taylor township and was born in the township on Jan. 12, 1893. She was married to Mr. Detwiler in Chester county, Pa., about four years ago, both young people having left Taylor township to work in Chester the previous year and the wedding followed the meeting there. She was a member of the St. Luke Ev. Lutheran church of Roaring Spring. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mildred, aged 2 years; Irma Kathlene, aged 3 months, and one son, Lester H., aged 3 years. Surviving are also her parents, who reside in the township and the following brothers and sisters: Mildred, Sarah, Arlene, Earl, Ivan, Melvin and John, all at home, and Benjamin of Poplar street, Roaring Spring. The funeral will be held this morning at 10 o'clock. Services in charge of Rev. H. E. Berkey and interment in Greenlawn cemetery, Roaring Spring. Mrs. Anna Golda Detwiler, wife of Frank Detwiler, of Roaring Spring, died at her home Sunday evening at 7.50 o'clock of pneumonia, following Spanish influenza. She was ill for one week. She was born on Jan. 12, 1893, in Taylor township, the daughter of Harry and Myrtle Dick of Taylor township, and resided for five years in Chester county, being married there four years ago. With her husband, she removed to Roaring Spring last November. Surviving are the parents, the husband and three children, Lester, aged 3, Mildred, aged 2, and Emma, aged 3 months, also the following brothers and sisters: Earl, Ivan, Melvin, John, Sarah, Mildred and Arlene, all at home, and Benjamin of Roaring Spring.
