Mrs. Lydia Detwiler, of Hickory Bottom, an aged lady, widow of Jacob Detwiler, died on Wednesday morning of last week. The funeral occurred on Friday morning last. Services were held at the Hickory Bottom Reformed church, of which she was an active member for many years. Besides her husband, two sons and two daughters preceded her to the grave. She is survived by four children - one son, John W. Detwiler, and three daughters, Mrs. Emanuel Nicodemus, Mrs. James Nicodemus and Mrs. George Carper. Grandmother Detwiler, as she was familiarly called, suffered many weeks. Her life was a noble one and she has gone to her reward. Morning Tribune, Tuesday, December 5, 1899
