All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ WILLIAM CALVIN DETWILER A former resident of Altoona, died at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home, 409 North avenue, Verona, Pittsburgh, after having been ill for some time. He was born at Clover Creek on Dec. 22, 1868, a son of George and Mary Ann (Eastep) Detwiler. He was employed as a carpenter by the Pennsylvania railroad and served as constable of the Seventh ward while a resident of Altoona. Mr. Detwiler was employed by a Pittsburgh bank in recent years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary G. (Musser) Detwiler, the following brothers and sisters: J. R. Detwiler of Williamsburg, Mrs. Ellen Showalter of Water Street, Mrs. Annie M. Hill, and Mrs. Cora A. Medaugh of Altoona, and Mrs. Bertha F. Palm of Harrisburg. Mr. Detwiler was a veteran of the Spanish-American war, having been a member of company C, 5th Pennsylvania volunteers, and a member of the Presbyterian church. The body will arrive in Altoona tomorrow afternoon and friends may call at the Lafferty funeral home after 6 o'clock tomorrow evening. DETWILER - Funeral services for William Calvin Detwiler of Pittsburgh, a former resident of Altoona, will be held at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Lafferty funeral home.
