At 10.50 o'clock Saturday night Charles E. Devender, died at the residence of his son-in-law, Harry McCartney, 1208 Sixteenth street, of a complication of diseases. He had been ailing for several weeks. Deceased was born in Westphalia, Germany, 64 years ago. He came to America in 1861 and settled in New York. Since last July he has made his home in this city with his daughter, Mrs. McCartney. He was a member of the Catholic church and was well known and esteemed by a large number of friends in this city. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Harry McCartney and Miss Gussie Devender, of Altoona; Mrs. D. J. O'Brien and Charles J. Devender, of New York. The remains were taken to New York on eastern express last night, where the funeral will take place from the residence of his daughter. Interment in Calvary cemetery.
