Funeral services were held this afternoon at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Minerva Lasher of 524 Second avenue. Mr. Dibert would have been 84 years old on July 19. He was born in Greenville township, a son of Jacob and Sarah Dibert. He and Mrs. Dibert would have celebrated their sixty-third wedding anniversary on Oct. 30. Mr. Dibert was well known in the city, having operated one of the first electric cars for the Altoona & Logan Valley Electric Railway company and earlier had driven one of the horse-drawn cars. He was a lifelong member of the Trinity Reformed church. Surviving are his wife, seven sons and daughters, Mrs. Lasher of the city, Mrs. Martha Yoder of Greenwood, Howard Dibert, Mrs. H. B. Cupp, Mrs. Catherine Metzger and David Dibert, all of the city, and Mrs. Ruth Harter of Wehnwood, twenty-six grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, a total of fifty-eight descendants. In addition are six brothers and sisters, Mrs. Emma Leslie, Mrs. Ida Rhodes, Mrs. Minnie Burket, Harry, Andrew and Wesley Dibert, all of Claysburg. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., July 6, 1936 Family Gathering Fetes Local Man Five Generations of Clan Hold Outing at Upper Reese to Pay Respects to George Dibert, Aged 84. Rosemary cottage at Upper Reese, the summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Carducci of 313 East Harrison avenue, this city, was the scene of an enjoyable outing last Sunday in honor of the latter's grandfather George Dibert of 615 Second avenue, this city, who was celebrating his 84th natal anniversary. Five generations of the family were present at the affair, Mr. Dibert has not been in the best of health but is able to be about and he enjoyed the gathering. Swimming, horseshoe pitching, games and contests were indulged in during the day and at the conclusion of the activities a delicious picnic supper was served. George Dibert is a native of Claysburg, a son of Jacob and Sarah Dibert, deceased. He has three brothers and three sisters living all being residents of Claysburg. They are Mrs. Emma Leslie, Mrs. Ida Rhodes, Mrs. Minnie Burket, Andrew, Harry and Joseph Dibert. He was married to Jane Eamigh of Roaring Spring on Oct. 30, 1873. He resided in Johnstown during the Johnstown flood but the greater part of his life has been spent in Altoona. He was employed by Lippincott & Co. for many years and was retired from that firm. He drove horse-cars here and operated one of the first electric cars in the city. Mr. Dibert is a member of the Trinity Reformed church, Seventh avenue and Eighth street, Dr. James M. Runkle, pastor. Dibert, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Carducci, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bender, Mrs. Elizabeth Bickel, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lasher, Mr. and Mrs. C. Daugherty. Mr. and Mrs. C. Heinbach, Norman Dibert, Mrs. Edward Dibert, David William Dibert, Marjorie Ann Dibert, William Lasher, Mike Lasher, David E. Lasher, Charles Edward Lasher, Shirley L. Lasher, James Daugherty, Jesse May Bickelm, Melvin Heinbach, Lester Heinbach, Edna Grace Heinbach, Helen Lasher, William Vipond, Richard Stackhouse, Duane Banks and A. S. Wright. A granddaughter, Mary Carducci composed a short poem in honor of the event and it was read at the outing. It appears as follows: To Rosemary cottage we welcome you, one and all, large and small, From little tots to one grown tall, And on this your birthday we greet you, With love in our hearts and a smile on our lips, And five generations to meet you. How happy we are this day to greet you, To our silver-haired grandpap we say, Happy Birthday to you and the joys of life be yours. From rosy dawn to dewy night, may your days be long and bright. As we travel life's pathways, We will always remember your kindly ways, The pat of a hand on a little head, A tear for an orphan whose father is dead. May the blessings of God rest on your dear head.
