Dick, Formerly of Roaring Spring, Passes Away at Home of Daughter In McKee. Failing to recover from the shock of his daughter's death, David L. Dick, well known former resident of Roaring Spring and for the past eight years residing in McKee, died at 3.55 p.m. Tuesday, of cerebral hemorrhage, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ruth Kennedy, at McKee, with whom he has made his home for more than a year. Death came to the well known cove resident at the time the final tribute was being paid another daughter, Mrs. Roy W. McGinnis, who died in Roaring Spring, Sunday morning. Ill for the past four years, Mr. Dick failed to recover from shock as a result of the death of his daughter, and since Sunday, his condition continued to grow worse. His wife, also residing at the Kennedy home in McKee, has been ill for the past eleven years. Her condition at this time is as good as may be expected. Mr. Dick was well known throughout the entire cove section, he having been born in Taylor township on June 3, 1874, a son of David P. and Catherine L. Dick, both deceased. He remained in the township during his boyhood days, assisting with the work on the farm of his father, and on Aug. 15, 1894, was united in marriage with Miss Ella Roush of McKee, who survives with the following children: Mrs. Ruth Kennedy, at whose home he died, at McKee; Mrs. Marian Thompson of Newry, and Lester Dick of Pittsburgh. Eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive as well as one brother, Daniel L. Dick of Roaring Spring and one sister, Mrs. Annie Bechtel of Jamestown, N.Y. Mr. Dick served a number of years as superintendent of the memorandum department of the Roaring Spring Blank Book company, and continued in this capacity until four years ago when he was forced to relinquish the post due to illness. He was an active member of the Bare Memorial Church of God at Roaring Spring for many years, and was a member of the male quartet of the church. He attended the Sunday school and church services regularly. Following his residence in McKee, Mr. Dick became affiliated with the Methodist church at that place. Funeral services will be held in the Methodist church at McKee on Thursday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock, with his pastor, Rev. Frank Montgomery in charge, assisted by Rev. J. Walter Skillington, pastor of Trinity Methodist church at Roaring Spring. Interment in Albright Church of the Brethren cemetery in Taylor township. Altoona Mirror, September 18, 1935
