(DICK), 1996 THELMA K. BLACK Mrs. Thelma K. Black, 76, New Enterprise RR 1, died Friday evening, April 12, 1996 at the Morrison Cove Home, Martinsburg. She was born June 15, 1919, in Henrietta, the daughter of the late William and Maude (Hall) Dick. She married Charles E. Black Sept. 16, 1941 in Winchester, Va. Mrs. Black was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Woodbury. Surviving are her husband, a daughter, Kathryn M. Foor of New Enterprise RR; five brothers: Leonard of Claysburg, Harper of Altoona, Robert of Bellwood and Charles and Merle, both of Baltimore; two sisters: Mae Gochenour of Baltimore, and Mary Elizabeth Balch in Florida; four grandchildren and a great-grandson. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home, Woodbury, and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Woodbury. _____ BONSELL, Erdene F. (DICK), 1976 ERDENE F. (DICK) BONSELL Of 309 W 17th St, Tyrone, died at 9:25 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 1976 at Tyrone Hospital. She was born Aug. 31, 1925 in Henrietta, a daughter of William and Maude (Fluke) Dick. Surviving are four sons, Ernest Dick and Dean Dick of Tyrone and Robert Bonsell Jr. and Barry Bonsell of Martinsburg, and nine brothers and sisters, Elva and Leonard of Roaring Spring, Robert of Bellwood, Harper of West Valley, N.Y., Mrs. Thelma Black of New Enterprise, Mrs. Mae Gochner, Charles and Merle of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Elizabeth Balch, in Florida. Friends will be received in the Gerald D Johnson Funeral Home, Bellwood, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. _____ DICK, Donald J., 1950 DONALD J. DICK Donald J. Dick of 1004 First Avenue, Altoona, a veteran of World War II, died in the Altoona Veterans Hospital Sunday [December 13, 1950], after a brief illness. He was born in Martinsburg, April 15, 1923, a son of William and Maude (Fluke) Dick. He enlisted in the Marine Corps November 17, 1942 and was discharged on August 12, 1943. He was employed as a car builder by the Pennsylvania Railroad. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Louise (Sommer) Dick, his parents and these brothers and sisters, Merle, Robert and Erdine, all of Bellwood; Harper of Altoona, Kenneth of Howard, Mrs. Elizabeth Balch of Buffalo, N.Y.; Mrs. Mae Gochenour and Charles of Baltimore, Leonard and Elva Dick of Roaring Spring, Mrs. Irene Norris of Tyrone and Mrs. Thelma Black of New Enterprise. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where requiem mass was sung Wednesday. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. [Altoona Mirror, January 2, 1951] _____ DICK, Dorothy G., 1973 DOROTHY G. DICK Of 630 Locust St., Roaring Spring, died unexpectedly at 2 p.m. yesterday, April 5, 1973, at her home. She was born July 24, 1918, at Roaring Spring RD, a daughter of Emanuel and Ellen (Wentz) Albright, and married J. Leonard Dick on March 29, 1939. Surviving are her husband, two sons, J. Larry of Buffalo, N.Y., and Gregory A. of Martinsburg, and a grandson. Mrs. Dick was a graduate of Roaring Spring High School Class of 1937 and was a member of the Albright Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring RD. Friends will be received in the Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring, from 7 to 9 p.m. today, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and after 1 p.m. Sunday at the church. [Altoona Mirror, April 6, 1973] _____ DICK, Elva Rebecca, 1993 ELVA REBECCA DICK Elva Rebecca Dick, 81 of Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg, died at 8:40 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 1993 at the home. A funeral was held Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring, by the Rev. John L. Emig. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg. Miss Dick was born July 8, 1912, in Liberty Township, Bedford County, the daughter of William M. and Maud I. (Fluke) Dick. Surviving are a son Paul R. Acker of Hollidaysburg RD and six grandchildren. Also surviving are eight brothers and sisters: Leonard of Roaring Spring; Mae Gochenour, Charles and Merle of Baltimore, Md.; Thelma Black of Maria, Bedford County; Sis Bulsch in Florida; Harp of Buffalo, N.Y.; and Robert of Bellwood. Miss Dick retired from the wirebound department of Roaring Spring Blank Book Co, in 1972. She was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Roaring Spring. LARRY DICK Larry Dick, 57, 4948 Gerber Parkway, Hamburg, N.Y., formerly of Roaring Spring, died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb 24, 2001 at his residence. He was born Nov 30, 1943 in Roaring Spring, the son of the late J. Leonard and Dorothy (Albright) Dick. He married Zelda E Kinsley on June 13, 1964 in Claysburg. He retired from the Hamburg Stamping Plant of Ford Motor Co. He was a 1962 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He is survived by his wife; and a son, William, both of Hamburg, N.Y. He is also survived by a brother, Gregory A. of New Enterprise RD. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Franklin F. Miller Funeral Home, Blasdell, N.Y., and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the J. Gary Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Albright Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring, by the Rev. Ronald Page. Leonard Dick, 85, a resident of the Morrison's Cove Home, Martinsburg, formerly of Roaring Spring, died early Friday, Sept 24, 1999, at the home. A funeral was held Monday at the Albright Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring RD, by Rev Ronald Page and Rev Michael Olivieri. Burial was in the Holsinger Cemetery, Bakers Summit. Mr. Dick was born July 21, 1914 at Loysburg, a son of William and Maude (Fluke) Dick. He was twice married, first to Dorothy Albright, who died April 5, 1973 and then to Valeska (Shoenfelt) Gochnour, who died Feb 22, 1996. He is survived by two sons, J. Larry of Orchard Park, NY and Gregory A. of New Enterprise; a stepdaughter Janice Ramineh of Altoona; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Balch of Hernondo, Fla.; and three brothers, Mearle of Baltimore, Harper of Altoona and Robert of Bellwood. He was preceded in death by a son Richard Lee. Mr. Dick was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Sea Bees. He retired from Conrail as a car repairman after 41 years of service. He also painted and trimmed trees in the Roaring Spring area for many years. He was a member of the Albright Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring RD, and the Roaring Spring Historical Society. J. DICK John Kenneth Dick, 53, a native of Martinsburg residing at Baltimore, Md., died Nov. 23, 1976 at Baltimore. Funeral services were held at the Hubbard Funeral Home and burial was in Glen Haven Memorial Park, Baltimore. He was born Dec 15, 1922, a son of William and Maude (Fluke) Dick. Surviving are 10 brothers and sisters: Elna Leonard and Thelma of Roaring Spring; Mae, Charles and Merle of Baltimore: Elizabeth in Florida, Harper of New York and Eardene and Robert of Tyrone. A brother Donald and a sister Irene preceded him in death. _____ DICK, Maude I. (FLUKE), 1967 MRS. MAUDE I. DICK Of 426 N. 1st St., Bellwood, died at 9:30 a.m. yesterday [October 20, 1967] in Altoona Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born at Martinsburg Jan 25, 1890, a daughter of Samuel and Rebecca (Hall) Fluke, and on Nov 29, 1911, in Hollidaysburg, married William Dick, who died in 1963. Surviving are 12 children, Robert of Bellwood, Harper of Buffalo, N.Y., Kenneth, Charles, Merle and Mrs. Mae Gochenour of Baltimore; Leonard and Miss Alva of Roaring Spring, Mrs. Thelma Black of Lloydsburg, Mrs. Erdeane Bonsell and Mrs. Irene Norris of Tyrone, and Mrs. Betty Baulsh of Akron, N.Y.; 24 grandchildren, six great- grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Verda Alexander of Akron. Mrs. Dick was a member of the Logan Valley Baptist Church and Grange. Friends will be received in the Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood, after 7 p.m. today. Dick of Bellwood, died at the Altoona Hospital Saturday evening, May 18, 1963. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Johnson Mortuary by the Rev. Ardell G Gould. Interment was in Alto-Reste Burial Park. He was born at Huntingdon, Feb 5, 1889, and married Maud Fluke at Hollidaysburg Nov 20, 1911. He retired in 1950 as a trackman for the Pennsylvania Railroad after 30 years service and was a member of the Tyrone Hook and Ladder Company. Surviving are his wife, 12 children, Miss Elva and Leonard of Roaring Spring, Mrs. Mae Gochenour, Merle, Kenneth and Charles of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Thelma Black of New Enterprise; Mrs. Elizabeth Balch and Harper of Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. Irene Norris and Mrs. Erdine Bonsell of Tyrone and Robert at home; 22 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. [Altoona Mirror, May 20, 1963] _____ GOCHENOUR, Mae V. (DICK), 1999 MAE V. GOCHENOUR Mrs. Mae V. (Dick) Gochenour, 83, of Parkville, Md., a native of Hopewell Township, died Wednesday, Sept 8, 1999. A funeral was held Saturday at the Hiss United Methodist Church, Parkville, by Pastor Kenneth Dunnington. Burial was in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, Baltimore. Mrs. Gochenour was born Dec 25, 1915 in Jack's Corner a daughter of William and Maude (Fluke) Dick. She married John H. Gochenour July 25, 1947, in Baltimore. He is deceased. She is survived by two sons, James H. of Baltimore and Thomas H. of Texas. There are four grandchildren. Mrs. Gochenour is also survived by a sister Elizabeth Balch of Florida, and these brothers, Merle Dick of Baltimore, Leonard Dick of the Morrison's Cove Home, Martinsburg, Robert Dick of Tyrone and Harper Dick of Altoona. NORRIS Wife of Walter Norris of 108 Hancock St., Northwood, Tyrone, died at 2:25 a.m. today [June 28, 1968] in Tyrone Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born June 8, 1927 at Woodbury, a daughter of William M and Maude I. (Fluck) Dick, and married Mr. Norris on Oct 28, 1946. Surviving are her husband, 10 children, Robert C. of Mount Union and Barbara, Edward, Paul, Chester, Linda, Nicholas, Daniel, Phyllis and Geraldine, all at home; 11 brothers and sisters, Leonard and Miss Elva Dick of Roaring Spring, Mrs. Thelma Bullock of New Enterprise, Mrs. Betty Balch of Corfu, N.Y.; Mrs. Mae Gochenour, Merle, Charles and Kenneth of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Erdene Bonsell of Tyrone, Harper of Buffalo, N.Y., and Robert of Bellwood. Mrs. Norris was a member of Northwood Chapel and the Home League of the Salvation Army of Tyrone.
