Dick, died at her home, about two miles south of Roaring Spring, on Wednesday, December 24, 1919. She had been in fairly good health for the past year, and on the day of her death was found unconscious about one o'clock p.m. by her daughter, Mrs. Ellis. She was absent from the house a few minutes and when found was seriously ill, suffering from a paralytic stroke. Neighbors assisted in carrying her helpless form to the house where all that loving hands could do was of no avail to restore her to life and she passed away at three o'clock. She was the daughter of John and Catharine Garber, both deceased, and was the fourth of a family of thirteen children to go to the spirit world. She was born in the old house that once stood near Halter Creek on the farm of Mrs. S. H. Slick, on March 31, 1850, being aged 69 years, 8 months and 23 days. On February 2, 1868, she was united in marriage with Daniel P. Dick, who died almost three years ago. To this union were born nine children. Three, Malachi, Grant and Frank preceded their mother to the grave, and the following survive, Mrs. Hattie Adams, of near Roaring Spring; Ezra, of Ore Hill; Mrs. Edna Croft, of Altoona; Irene, Mrs. Ella Ellis and James at home. Deceased is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild and these brothers and sisters: Rev. Charles Garber, Aaron Garber, and Mrs. Elmira Albright, of near Roaring Spring; Alexander Garber, of East Freedom; Edward Garber, of Tipton; Isaac Garber, of Oklahoma; Dr. Noble Garber, of Ohio, and Mrs. Annie Sell, of McKee. Mrs. Dick was a member of the Albright Church of the Brethren, where funeral services were held Friday morning, December 26, at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. H. H. Rasher. Interment was made in cemetery adjoining. She was a kind and loving mother and neighbor and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. This is the fourth visit the Death Angel has made to this home in four years and two months, and the family have the sympathy of the community in their loss.
