Little Linden Diehl Dies After Suffering Greatly. Jared Linden Diehl, son of Sylvester H. and Rachel Diehl, died at the home of his father, on Walnut avenue near Lloyd street, last night at 11.20 o'clock, of lockjaw, the result of injuries received by the explosion of a toy cannon. On Saturday evening, November 11, Linden, with his brother Luther, was playing with a toy cannon. They overloaded it and in firing off it exploded. One piece struck Linden on one of his legs below the knee, and Luther had his face burned by the powder. Linden was probably the worst injured. Saturday afternoon about 4 o'clock lock jaw set in and his body became cramped and almost doubled. The attending physician did all in his power to relieve him, but to no avail, and at the hour mentioned above death relieved him of his sufferings. Deceased was born in Juniata county, and was aged 12 years, 1 month and 18 days. Besides his parents he is survived by three brothers, Luther, Percy and Dewey, and two sisters, Grace and Cora. He attended the public schools and was much beloved by his playmates. The funeral will take place Wednesday morning, services to be conducted at the Walnut Avenue Methodist Episcopal church at 10 o'clock. Interment in Fairview cemetery.
