Diehl, age 71, RD3, Bald Eagle Pike, Tyrone, died Thursday, October 5, 2006 at 11:28 p.m. at the Tyrone Hospital. She was born January 14, 1935 in Philipsburg, the daughter of John and Ruth Mostyn Bryan. On August 30, 1980 she was married to Thomas R. Diehl who survives. Also surviving are two sons: Timothy Christine and D. Bruce Christine, both of Bald Eagle and an adopted son, Brian Woods of Wooster, Mass.; three daughters: Cynthia Chronister of Tallahassee, FL, Terri Sacco and Pamela Christine, both of Tyrone and a foster daughter, Sandra Ackerman of Sunrise, FL and 13 grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Dorothy Beckwith and Mary Harpster, both of Port Matilda and a stepsister, Caroline Orwick of Bald Eagle. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Gerald and Donald. Mrs. Diehl attended the Bald Eagle Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Port Matilda High School class of 1952 and of South Hills Business School. She had been employed by Corning, Erie Tech, Jostens and Grief Clothing, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Howard Gardner Post No. 281 American Legion Auxiliary; of Salon No. 821 Forty and Eight; of the Anderson Denny Post No. 4559 V.F.W. Auxiliary and of the Bald Eagle Fire Company. She enjoyed bingo, traveling and was a collector of cookbooks. Funeral service for Joan M. Diehl will be Monday, October 9, 2006 at 1 p.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastor Susan Yatta officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tyrone Daily Herald, October 7, 2006
