L. Dilling died at his home in Fredericksburg, from a complication of diseases. He was a son of George B. and Elizabeth Longenecker Dilling, deceased, and was born on a farm near Henrietta January 1, 1847. His boyhood days were spent on the farm, and when his parents moved to Illinois he accompanied them and spent a few years on a farm there. He returned again to the state of his birth, and on September 6, 1870, he married Miss Anna Hayes, who preceded him to the grave 21 years ago. To this union two daughters were born and survive: Mrs. Mollie Wengert and Mrs. Linnie Dilling, both of Altoona, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. On Dec. 23, 1902, he married Miss Jennie Wilt, who survives with one brother, John, and these sisters: Sarah Kepp, of Monticello, Ind.; Mrs. Boone, of Nappance, Ind.; and Mrs. Catherine Metzgar, of New Enterprise, and by five half-brothers and three half-sisters, of Indiana. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren of Clover Creek. By occupation he was a veterinary surgeon of wide reputation. He was a kind and loving husband and a good neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand. The funeral services were held on Wednesday morning in the Clover Creek church and interment was made in the Brumbaugh cemetery. Martinsburg Herald, July 28, 1922
