DILLING. At 3:35 o'clock Friday afternoon William A. Dilling died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Ira T. Hoopes, at Lakemont Terrace, near Altoona, of pulmonary tuberculosis. He suffered a long illness and was confined to his bed about five months. Three weeks ago he was taken from Pittsburg to the home of his sister, in the hope of improving his health. He was a son of Dr. and Mrs. C. B. Dilling, the latter having died nine months ago, and was born at Martinsburg, July 4, 1874. On July 4, 1893, he was married to Miss Blanche Hartman, of Martinsburg. For a time he resided in Altoona, but a few years ago he moved to Pittsburg, where he was employed in the electrical department of the Westinghouse works. Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Lester, Elmer and Ollie, at home in Pittsburg, and these brothers and sisters: George of Bedford; Hattie A. Jordan, of Fruitdale, Ala.; Mrs. J. A. Replogle, Mrs. I. T. Hoopes, Mrs. J. M. Querry, of Lakemont Terrace; John and Irvin, and Mrs. C. V. Johnson, of Pittsburg, also his aged father, Dr. C. B. Dilling, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hoopes, of Lakemont Terrace. The funeral service was held here Monday in St. John's Reformed church, conducted by Rev. W. H. Miller, of Curryville, assisted by Rev. W. S. Long of Altoona. The funeral party arrived here on the 9:17 a.m. train, proceeding from the depot direct to the church. Following the service which was attended by a large concourse of people, interment was made in Spring Hope cemetery. Martinsburg Herald, August 28, 1908
