All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ DEATH IS CAUSED BY ENCEPHALITIS John Peter Dionis, aged 28, of 1612 First avenue died at 12.02 o'clock yesterday morning at Mercy hospital where he was admitted in a serious condition at 9 o'clock Saturday night. His ailment was diagnosed as lethargic encephalitis, a non-contagious form of sleeping sickness, and he had been ill only a short time. He was born in Altoona on Sept. 2, 1914, a son of George and Rose (Seidel) Dionis, and was employed in the Juniata shops. Mr. Dionis was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church, the Holy Name and Bavarian societies. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Josephine (Malinoski) Dionis; one son, John Peter, jr.; his parents, and the following brothers and sisters: Sister Madonna, of the St. Agnes order, Fond-du-Lac, Wis., Louis of Santa Monica, Calif., George, Rose, Joseph, Martha, Louise, Paul, Carl and Peter, all of the city. Mr. Dionis reposes at the V. L. Stevens funeral home. DIONIS - Funeral services for John Peter Dionis of 1612 First avenue will be held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church.
