Track Hand Stepped in Front of a Train Yesterday Morning. Dietro Diruna, employed as a track laborer by the Pennsylvania Railroad company, stepped in front of a train at Bellwood yesterday morning and was instantly killed. He had stepped off the track on which he was working to get out of the way of a freight train, and, stepping on the adjoining track, failed to notice extra engine No. 2,112, eastbound, and was struck on the head and hurled to the side of the track. His skull was crushed. The body was picked up and brought to Altoona and prepared for burial by Undertaker J. P. Lafferty. Diruna was 22 years old, single, and boarded at Elizabeth Furnace. Coroner T. C. McCartney viewed the remains and decided not to hold an inquest. Interment will be made in Calvary cemetery. Altoona Times, Saturday, July 25, 1903
