All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ JOSEPH ELIAS DODSON Joseph Elias Dodson, of South Altoona, died at 11:45 o'clock Monday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Dell, of Ridge avenue and Fortieth street. He was born February 8, 1833, at East Freedom, the son of Joseph and Susan Dodson, and had followed the occupation of a farmer until eight years ago, when he retired. Mr. Dodson had spent many years of his life at East Freedom. He was twice married, his first wife, Miss Lizzie Burke, dying thirty years ago. His second wife died on February 5, 1912, her husband dying just five years later. He is survived by five daughters and three sons, as follows: Jerry, of Tyrone; Edward and Samuel, of East Freedom; Mrs. Josephine Stanger, of Altoona; Mrs. Alice Gallagher, of Hollidaysburg; Mrs. Jennie Craig, of Philadelphia, and Mrs. Sarah Rhodes, of East Freedom. Three sisters also survive: Mrs. Isabelle Lingenfelter, of McKee; Mrs. Monica Kolbenschlag, of Altoona, and Miss Margaret Dodson, also of this city. There are forty-one surviving grandchildren and twenty-one great- grandchildren. Mr. Dodson was a life-long member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic church, of Newry. The funeral will be held with mass at St. Patrick's church at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning, with interment in the church cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Wednesday Morning, February 7, 1917
