Dougherty, a well known Pennsylvania railroad shopman, and a former member of common council of Altoona, died at his home, 115 Duncansville avenue, Llyswen, at 1:20 o'clock yesterday afternoon, of a complication of diseases. He had been in failing health since last March. He was born in Altoona July 7, 1852 and had resided in Altoona until eleven years ago, when he took up his residence in Llyswen. He was employed in the Pennsy brass foundry, but previous to his employment there had served the Pennsy company in the capacity of locomotive engineer for many years. During the years 1894-1895 he served in city common council. He was a member of the Eighth Avenue Methodist Episcopal church, the Middle Division Veterans' association, the Artisans Order of Mutual Protection, Orinoco tribe, Improved Order of Red Men and the Pennsy Relief association. He was married on May 16, 1875, to Miss Jenie [sic] Lowe, who died eighteen years ago. The following children survive: Mrs. Ida N. Sutch, J. Roy, Miss Eva M., and Miss Gertrude, at home, and W. Edgar, of Omaha, Neb. He is also survived by a half- brother, Harry L. Nelson, of Llyswen and three half sisters, Mrs. C. J. Cassidy, Mrs. James Shiro and Mrs. Isaac Trudeau. The funeral will be held with public services at the late home, at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, followed by burial in Oak Ridge cemetery.
