After a long illness, which was attended by much suffering, Mr. William F. Dougherty died at 8 o'clock Thursday morning at his parents' residence, No. 825 Sixth avenue. The deceased was the son of G. W. and Jennie Dougherty, was born in this city and was aged 28 years. By occupation he was a telegraph operator and had charge of the tower at Twelfth street from the time of its erection until he was taken ill and was forced to relinquish the position. He was well and favorably known in Altoona and the news of his summons to join the great throng which has passed on before, while not unexpected by his friends, will be lamented by all who had the pleasure of his friendship. As for himself he was ready to go. He had so ordered his life that the coming of death was not feared, and he awaited the end with a resignation that becomes a Christian. For many years he had been a member of the Second Presbyterian church. He was greatly esteemed by his fellow operators and yesterday many were the expressions of regret that he had been called away while yet in early manhood.
