At half past 6 last evening Mr. Joseph Doyle, an old and well known resident of this city, died at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. Edward Strausburg, 220 Beech avenue, of general debility. He had been in failing health for the past two years and had been bedfast for more than two months. Born near Chest Springs, Cambria county, April 21, 1837, the deceased cam to Altoona about forty years ago and for thirty- three years was an employe of the Pennsylvania Railroad company - most of the time as a blacksmith in the car shops, having been retired from the service several years ago. He was married May 20, 1860, and is survived by his wife and these children: Mrs. Eliza McKendrick, Mrs. Emma Strausburg, as whose home he died; Mrs. Fannie McKendree and a son, Edward, all residents of Altoona. The following named brothers and sisters also survive: John Doyle, of Youngstown, O.; Edward Doyle, of Ashville, Cambria county; Mrs. Mary Burk and Mrs. Bridget Tomlison, of Chest Springs, and Mrs. Kate Jones, of this city. For over twenty- five years Mr. Doyle was a resident of the Eighth ward and resided at 405 Third avenue. He had a host of friends in the city, who will be sorry to learn of his death. A lifelong Catholic, he was at the time of his death a member of St. Mark's church. The funeral will take place Friday morning, leaving the house at 8.30 and proceeding to St. Mark's church, where services will be held. Interment in St. John's cemetery.
