All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ Brief Illness is Fatal for Former Resident Michael Francis Durkin, 62, a former Altoonan residing at 7 Citadel Drive, Camp Hill, died at 2 p.m. yesterday in the Camp Hill Hospital where he was admitted at 3 a.m. yesterday. He served as a field auditor for the state Department of Labor and Industry and while in Altoona was also proprietor of the Penn Coal Company, active in the American Business Club and one of the originators of the Quarterback Club, a member of the Sacred Heart - and - later - St. Therese's Catholic Churches. Mr. Durkin was born in Shenandoah on May 20, 1904, a son of Michael and Nellie Durkin, and married Marie McCall of Spangler. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Thomas E. of the city and William J. of Mexico City; five grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Noreen Farmery, Mrs. Mary Roberts and Mrs. Eleanor Rooney, all of Philadelphia. He was a member of St. Therese's Catholic Church in Camp Hill. Friends will be received in the Myers Funeral Home, Camp Hill, tomorrow. Altoona Mirror, September 10, 1966
