"Charlie" Eaken, 55, of 721 North 5th Ave., Juniata, died Sunday, December 17, 2006 at 1:15 a.m. at his residence. He was born October 16, 1951 in Altoona, a son of William R. and Lola E. (Schandelmeier) Eaken. On March 30, 1973 in West Virginia he married Gertrude K. Burns. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, a son John C. Eaken of Altoona, a daughter Tina Eaken of Altoona, five grandchildren: Leah Riley who lived in the home, Logan, Kathryn, Aidan and Mya, his mother and step- father Lola E. and John Hagerty of Grazierville, two step-sons: Charles E. and Kenneth W. Persing both of Altoona, three brothers: William R. Eaken Jr. of Holton, Michigan, David W. Eaken of Altoona and Jack L. Eaken of Hollidaysburg and two sisters: Juanita M. Illig of Bald Eagle and Brenda S. Imler of Altoona. He was preceded in death by his father William and a sister Kathy Eaken. Charlie retired as a supervisor from LEW Communications in New Jersey. He was a 1971 graduate of Altoona High School and was a Vietnam veteran. Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 21, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone with Pastor Mark Mahan officiating. Interment with veteran's honors will follow at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Tyrone Daily Herald, December 19, 2006
