On Friday night last William Earhart died at his residence in Altoona after a lingering sickness. He knew it would be fatal, and supposed it was caused by a strain received while working in the shops. He requested that a post mortem should be made after his decease, and Dr. Christy held the examination on Saturday in the presence of a number of brother physicians. He discovered that the cause of death was a cancerous tumor which had eaten away part of the stomach and the large intestine. Notice was yesterday given in the Eighth avenue Methodist Church that the funeral services of Mr. Earhart would take place this afternoon. Several of the city lodges of Odd Fellows will be in attendance. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Monday, March 1, 1880 Funeral of Mr. Earhart.
