ECKLEY Mrs. Sarah Ann Eckley, widow of Joseph Eckley, died at her home 1129 Pennsylvania avenue, Sunday afternoon at 4.50 o'clock following an illness of four months with a complication of diseases. Mrs. Eckley was a daughter of James P. and Catherine (Swiler) Roan and was born at Rock Forge, Centre county, on May 8, 1868. On August 29, 1893, at Milesburg, she was united in marriage with Joseph Eckley, who died on May 7, 1931. She is survived by three sons and two daughters: Wilbur R. Eckley, Byron Eckley, James R. Eckley, of Tyrone; Mrs. Edwin Cruise, of Tampa, Florida; and Mrs. Mildred Burns, of Pittsburgh. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Mildred Sarah Burns; one brother, Robert Roan, Juniata, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Atwood, of DuBois, and Mrs. Nannie Norris, of Juniata. She was a member of the Columbia Avenue Methodist Episcopal church; Lady Viola Rebekah Lodge, I.O.O.F., of Tyrone; the Auxiliary Unit to Howard Gardner Post No. 281, American Legion; the Ladies Auxiliary to the Neptune Fire company. Funeral services will be held at the Glass funeral home on Wednesday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock in charge of Rev. Dr. Bert A. Salter, pastor of the Columbia Avenue Methodist Episcopal church, followed by burial in Eastlawn cemetery. The body may be viewed at the home until Wednesday noon when it will be taken to the Glass funeral home. Tyrone Daily Herald, Tyrone, Pa., January 10, 1938
