MRS. CATHARINE EICHENLAUB.

  Mrs. Catharine Eichenlaub died at 3.20 o'clock Saturday afternoon at
the residence of her son, John Smithmyer, Twenty-fourth avenue and
Sixteenth street, of diseases incident to old age.  Deceased was born
in Germany in 1821.  She was married there to Nicholas Smithmyer, who
died in 1869.  Later she married Joseph Eichenlaub, who died in this
city a few years ago.  She is survived by three sons born to her first
husband: Frank, George and John Smithmyer.  Deceased was a member of
St. Mary's German Catholic church.
