The switch broke at the D.M. Bare Paper Mill intersecting at that place. Emeigh was still living when pulled from under the train, but expired a few minutes later while on way to Nason Hospital. He was an employee of the D.M. paper mill company and had just returned from the market grocery store where he made serveral purchases. The aged man was walking swiftly along evidently deep in thought and apparently did not know that the train was near until it hit him. He was struck just as he was leaving the track, the force of the blow threw him around in front of the engine which, with the fender, followed after him. He was taken from under the train between the tender and from baggage car. Several physicians were on the train and the man was given medical assistance and every effort made to reach the hospital but the attempt was unsuccessful. A bad scalp wound is the cause from which is supposed death occured. although, he also had one leg ground off between the knee and thigh, the other leg broken and parts of the foot were torn off, in addition, to a large number of broken bones of that body. The train was in charge of commander Tms. --- Snowberger and engineer Marlent---. Eayer---. The accident occurred just after the tarin rounded the curve at that point and was uncontrollable, as the steam from the engine and smoke made it impossible for the engineers to see the man on the track, he was within a few feet of him when he tried to reverse the engine, but it was a useless attempt, at it was on the down grade and the rails were very slippery.
