Death was due to gangrene, which developed following a most peculiar accident. En route to Roaring Spring sic months ago to visit her sons, Mrs. Emery, while waiting for the branch train at the Altoona passenger station, had the big toe of the right foot trampled by a man who pushed his way through the crowd as the gates opened. While the toe, which was badly bruised pained considerable, Mrs. Emery paid little attention to it until some time later when gangrene developed. Last Sunday she was brought to the home of her son from Nant-y-Glo, but despite the best medical attention, she grew steadily worse until death relieved her suffering yesterday. She also suffered from diabetes. She was born in Cambria county on Nov. 2, 184*, and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Rager, both deceased. She resided in Cambria county until seventeen years old when she became the wife of Benjamin Bridenbaugh, then a prosperous farmer of Sinking Valley. Later the couple resided in Taylor township, near Peck station, and in 1884 he died, Mrs. Bridenbaugh being left with the care of the several small children. In 1894 she became the wife of John Shubert, prominent Brush mountain man, the family residing at Brush Mountain until 1909 when he passed away, Mrs. Shubert being left a widow for the second time. Following the death of her second husband, she resided with her children in Blair and Cambria counties until two years ago when she married for the third time, selecting Charles Emery, of Nant-y-Glo, as her husband. With the exception of a few months past in Roaring Spring last fall, the couple have resided in the Cambria county town since marriage. She is survived by her husband and the following children, by her first marriage: Albert and Edward Bridenbaugh, both of Roaring Spring; Mrs. Mary McWade, wife of A. J. McWade of Lakemont; Mrs. Emma McGraw, wife of Michael McGraw of Brush Mountain; Mrs. Bertha Metzker, wife of Herman Metzker of Gaysport. Also by two step children, Harry Bridenbaugh of Amboy, Ill., and Mrs. Lily Stroup, wife of John Stroup of Williamsburg, sixteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four brothers, Henry, Wesley, William and Martin, all of Cambria county, and four sisters, all residents of Cambria county. She was a member of the Lutheran church, becoming affiliated with the church early in life. Undertaker Grant Hite prepared the body for burial and the funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon, with services in St. Luke's Lutheran church at 1.30 o'clock. Rev. Harvey E. Berkey, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery at Martinsburg. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., February 27, 1920 Additional Comments: *This date appears to be 1840 or 1849.
