Evans died at his late residence, on East Walnut street, Hollidaysburg, at 3.30 o'clock Sunday morning, after a lingering illness. He was born January 8, 1855, at Rhymney, Monmouthshire, Wales, and came to this country as a lad with his parents. He was graduated from Hahnemann college, Philadelphia, in 1881, and practiced medicine in Tyrone until December, 1882, when he moved to Altoona. In April, 1895, he located in Baltimore, where he remained until April, 1911, when he moved to Hollidaysburg. On November 8, 1881, he was united in marriage to Miss Malissa Burley, of Tyrone, who, with two children, survives. The children are Mary B. Evans, of Hollidaysburg, and Henry S., of Altoona. He is also survived by a grandchild, Henry S., Jr., of Altoona, five sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Arthur Jones, of Utica, N.Y.; Mrs. John Davies, of Shamokin; Mrs. James Harris, of Lilly; Mrs. Albert Perry, and Mrs. James Pierce, of Altoona; Nicolas Evans, of Johnstown, and Dr. John A. Evans, of Baltimore. The funeral took place from his late residence at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Interment in the Hollidaysburg cemetery.
