Eyer passed away at the home of his nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Kauffman, 1428 Pennsylvania avenue, of a complication of diseases. Mr. Eyer had been ill since last October and his condition during the early spring months gradually became worse until the end came this morning. Christian Valerius Eyer was a son of John and Susan Eyer early settlers of Warrior's Mark valley. He was born on the old Eyer homestead in the valley, July 5, 1840, and resided there all his life until he came to Tyrone, eight years ago to reside with his nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Kauffman. Mr. Eyer attended the United Brethren church and took quite an active part in the services. He was kind and charitable and had many friends who will regret to hear of his passing away. Mr. Eyer never married and during his life until his retirement from active life he was an agriculturist. To those with whom he came in contact in his daily life, he was known as a straight forward, honorable gentlemen in all his dealings. Surviving to mourn his passing is one brother, Jerry Eyer, of Everett, Washington; two sisters Mrs. Amanda Myers, Tyrone, and Mrs. Mary McClay, of Wilkinsburg, Pa., and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Kauffman home on Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. E. G. Sawyer.
