Eugene Eyer, 94, of 2442 Ridge Road, Tyrone, died peacefully at his home with his family on February 27, 2008. He was born October 11, 1913 at the Eyer homestead, a son of Merle Grazier and Forest W. Eyer. On March 31, 1936 he married Miriam E. Umholtz in Hagerstown, Md. She died December 28, 1988. He is survived by Susan and Charles Querry of Tyrone RD, Nancy and Wolfgang Bruckner of Warriors Mark, Diane and Bruce Babe of Tyrone RD, Delbert J. and Josie Eyer of Virginia, Kenneth L. Eyer of Tyrone RD, Gary L. and Joyce Eyer of Tyrone RD; one sister, Marie Adle Chronister of Tyrone. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dixie and a son, Eugene Jr., grandson Bruce Kough II and two brothers, George and Carlton Eyer. Additional surviving family include 15 grandchildren: Terry Querry, Christi Barley, Penni Moore, Kim Murphy, Forest Eugene Eyer III, Trisha Hunter, Krystal DiMarco, Tammy Sprankle, Paula Bruckner, Wolfgang Bruckner, Kane Eyer, Carrie Johnson, Joseph Eyer, Zoe Babe and Max Babe. Also, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was a lifetime operator of Eyers Dairy Farm, the founder of the Lazy E Rodeo and was an accredited judge of horses. He developed and bred Pa. Hare Hounds selling them worldwide. He was an avid hunter and was well loved by family and friends. He was known in the valley as a man of many diverse talents. Funeral services will be held March 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home, Warriors Mark, with Rev. Peggy Bonsell officiating. Place of burial will be Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. Friends will be received on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
