Francis Patrick Farrell, prominent in church work and as a member of the Altoona council of the Young Men's institute, died at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Altoona hospital of pneumonia, following the Spanish influenza, contracted on Oct. 5. He was admitted to the institution on Thursday last. He was born in Altoona on April 10, 1885, the son of John and Martha Farrell, of 700 Eleventh street, and spent his entire life in this city. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic church, of the Y.M.I., the Third Order regulars and the Holy Name society. He was employed, previous to his illness, in the store of his father. Surviving are the parents and one brother, William, who was ordered overseas with the United States army from the Baltimore, Md. port yesterday. News of the death was sent the soldier, and it is likely that he will be granted a furlough for the funeral. The funeral will be held on Thursday afternoon.
