Faust, age 89, 591 West Main Street, Bloomsburg, died unexpectedly at her home early Sunday afternoon and was pronounced dead at 2:40 p.m. Born on February 22, 1918, in Osceola Mills, Clearfield County, she was a daughter of the late Howard C. and Grace E. (Hughes) Smith. She resided in Bloomsburg since 1982 and previously lived in Tyrone. Louise was a graduate of Osceola Mills High School and a 1942 graduate of the former Indiana State Teachers College. She was a first grade teacher for 37 years, retiring from the Tyrone Area School District in 1977. She began her career teaching in Phillipsburg, then Osceola Mills, Tyrone and last at Grazierville. She was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg and of the Bloomsburg Chapter 279, Order of Eastern Star. She also was a member of the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary and of Excelsior Lodge 219, United Transportation Union, Tyrone. Her hobbies were baking, crocheting, doing needlepoint and volunteering at her church. Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Gray E. Faust on August 10, 1978; by a sister, Margaret Kaiser in 1998 and by a brother, Howard C. Smith, II on June 15, 1974. Surviving are two nieces: Dr. Millie K., wife of Dr. Stephen Fleetwood, Bloomsburg and Linda, wife of Anthony Mull, Phillipsburg and four nephews: Dr. Robert Keiser and his wife Sylvia, Salem, Va.; Charles Gray Smith and his wife Lynne, Glen Lyon; Howard C. Smith, III and his wife Donna, Broomfield, Colo. and Richard Smith and his companion Ginny Shenk, Auburn. Also, 19 great-nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Lowry Smith Puckey, Nuangola. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 4 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Ralph B. Hartenbach officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 3 to 4 p.m. Eastern Star memorial services at 3:30 p.m. Committal services will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Umbria Cemetery, Osceola Mills with Rev. Stephen J. Knitter, pastor of the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church officiating. Memorials may be sent to Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 101 East Fifth St., Bloomsburg, Pa. 17815.
