At his home, 1816 Eleventh street, at a quarter of 9 o'clock Monday morning, the soul of Mr. William Fay passed from this land into the unknown. He had been ailing for some years past, but it was not until Monday of last week that he became seriously ill and really not until Friday that he was compelled to take to his bed. He had long been a sufferer from a chronic ailment of the stomach and liver, and it was that disease which was the cause of his death. Mr. Fay was born in Williamsburg on April 3, 1834, and was consequently aged 64 years 10 months and 17 days. He was for many years a farmer by occupation, but, relinquishing that, came to Altoona seventeen years ago and entered the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad company, and was almost until the time of death a watchman at the car shops. Forty-two years ago last Sunday) February 19) he was married to Sarah Frances Rhule, who still survives. These children are also left to mourn the loss of an indulgent father: Anna C., of Portsmouth, O.; Calvin D., and Maxwell K., of Philadelphia; Margaret D., of St. Augustine, Fla.; James R., Jesse M., Clara P., Joseph, Howard C., Herman W. and Frances M., all residing at home. He also leaves two brothers - Dr. John Fay, of this city, and Robert Fay, of Williamsburg. He was a consistent member of the First Presbyterian church and was also a member of the Pennsylvania Railroad Relief association. Altoona Tribune, Thursday, February 23, 1899
