FEATHER Of 547 Fifty-fourth street, Eldorado, died at 5.15 o'clock this morning at the Altoona hospital where he was admitted in a serious condition yesterday afternoon. He was born in Duncansville on June 29, 1873, a son of David and Barbara (Lingenfelter) Feather, and had been employed as a clerk at the Altoona freight station, retiring in 1936 after forty years' employment. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary C. (Buck) Feather; three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Elsie Zimmers, Mrs. J.H. Buck, John Feather and Miss Mary Feather, all of the city. Mr. Feather was a member of the First Lutheran church, the Henry Baker Bible class and of the P.O.S. of A., camp No. 759. Friends are being received at the Laughlin funeral home. FEATHER - Funeral services for Blair A. Feather of 547 Fifty-fourth street will be held at the Laughlin funeral home at 2.30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Interment in Carson Valley cemetery. FEATHER Of Canan Station, died at his home at 11.30 o'clock Tuesday morning following a brief illness. He was a former Pennsylvania railroad elevator operator, retiring in November, 1938, after more than 50 years of service. He was born Nov. 1, 1873, at Martinsburg, a son of Michael and Elizabeth (Lingenfelter) Feather. His wife, Lucinda Jane Feather, died July 18, 1954. Surviving are four sons and one daughter, Chester M. and Roy A. of Altoona, R.D. 1, Oscar D. of Hollidaysburg, Ray T. of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Cora R. Brown of Mill Creek; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Martha Wilt of Poplar Run. Mr. Feather was an active member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance church and a life elder. He served many years on the church executive committee, a member of the Retired Men's Bible class and a former sexton of the church. He was a member of the Canan Station Fire company. Friends are being received at the Mauk & Yates funeral home until 11 a.m. Friday and thereafter at the church. Altoona Mirror, July 5, 1956 _____ ISAAC FRANK FEATHER Of 500 Locust street, Roaring Spring, died at 12.15 o'clock yesterday afternoon at Nason hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Feather was born May 17, 1905, at East Freedom, a son of Austin M. and Matilda J. (Helsel) Feather. He was married April 14, 1927, at Cumberland, Md., to Sara Elizabeth Bowman, who survives together with one daughter and one son, Rilla, at home, and Doyle, with the army in Germany; one niece, Helen Feather, at home, and one grandson. A son, Wilmer, and five brothers and five sisters preceded him in death. An inspector at the Sproul plant of the General Refractories company, Mr. Feather was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed church. Friends will be received at the home after 7 o'clock this evening. Altoona Mirror, March 23, 1954 _____ LUCINDA JANE FEATHER Wife of Daniel O. Feather of Canan Station and an active member in the Christian and Missionary Alliance church of the city for many years, died unexpectedly at 12.05 o'clock this morning of a heart attack at the home. She was born at Springfield Furnace Sept. 25, 1874, a daughter of George and Catherine (Whittaker) Grove, and married Mr. Feather May 16, 1894, celebrating their 60th anniversary this year. Surviving are her husband, five children, Mrs. Cora Brown of Mill Creek, Chester, Roy and Ray of the city and Oscar of Hollidaysburg; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ettie Steck of Michigan. Four children, Paul, Clyde, Blair and Grace, preceded her in death. MARY C. FEATHER Widow of Blair A. Feather of 547 Fifty-fourth street, died at the Altoona hospital at 7.15 o'clock this morning. She was born in Eldorado on Dec. 16, 1880, the daughter of Trevan and Martha E. Linsey Buck. Her husband preceded her to the grave Jan. 6, 1941. Surviving are two brothers, Samuel I. and Jacob H., both of Altoona. Mrs. Feather was a member of the First Lutheran church. Friends are being received at the Laughlin funeral home. FEATHER - Funeral services for the late Mrs. Mary C. Feather will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Laughlin funeral home, by Rev. Luke H. Rhoads, pastor of the First Lutheran church. Altoona Mirror, May 10, 1941 _____ WILLIAM DAVID FEATHERS Of 2916 West Chestnut avenue, for thirty-nine years a signal department employe of the Pennsylvania railroad, died at 7.35 o'clock last night at his home. He suffered from a complication of diseases. Mr. Feathers was born at Duncansville on Dec. 24, 1875, a son of David and Barbara (Lingenfelter) Feathers. He was married on April 6, 1899, to Miss Myrtle Kuhn. Surviving are the wife and the following children: Mrs. James A. Sandrus, Mrs. Lloyd M. Fleck, Mrs. Lee E. Goebler and Mrs. Harold R. Smith, all of Altoona, and Earl Feathers, at home; seven grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Ellis Zimmers, Blair A. Feathers, Mrs. Hayes Buck, John H. and Mary A. Feathers, all of Altoona. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church. Friends will be received at the home after 7 o'clock tonight. FEATHERS - The funeral of William David Feathers of 2916 West Chestnut avenue will be held from the St. Paul's Lutheran church with services Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of Rev. J.L. Barnes. Interment will follow in Carson Valley cemetery. Friends will be received at the home after 7 o'clock tonight. Altoona Mirror, March 11, 1939 _____ MRS. MARGARET HELSEL Mrs. Margaret Helsel, an old and highly respected resident of the county, died at 10:55 o'clock yesterday morning of diseases resultant to old age at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth G. Dodson, 1509 East Allegheny street. She had been in good health for one of her age and was able to go about freely and had only been ill a week. Deceased was born on May 23, 1837, at Freedom township and was a daughter of John and Rachael Feathers. She had been a resident of Hollidaysburg for the past twenty years and her husband, John Helsel, died on December 24, 1899. Mrs. Helsel was a consistent member of the Lutheran church of Hollidaysburg, and a good Christian woman who was held in high esteem by all who knew her. She was the mother of ten children, five of whom are living. They are Henry and Austin Helsel, of Duncansville; Mrs. Rachael Otto, Mrs. Elizabeth G. Dodson and Simon, all of Hollidaysburg. She is also survived by one sister, Mary Ann Feathers, who is aged 86 years and resides at East Freedom, and by 29 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. The funeral services will be held at the Dodson home on East Allegheny street at 1:30 o'clock on Friday afternoon. JENNIE ZIMMERS. Brief Illness Is Fatal to Aged Resident Mrs. Jennie Zimmers, 80, wife of Ellis S. Zimmers of 2511 Oak avenue, died at 7.50 o'clock this morning in Mercy hospital where she had been a patient since last Thursday. She was born in Duncansville March 14, 1871, a daughter of David and Barbara (Lingenfelter) Feather, and married Mr. Zimmers Dec. 22, 1897, their golden wedding anniversary being celebrated in 1947. Surviving are her husband, one daughter and one son, Miss Elsie A., at the home, and Harold E. of the city; two grandchildren, Donald and Lelia Ann Zimmers; two great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. J.H. Buck and Miss Mary Feather, both of the city. Mrs. Zimmers was a member of the Grace Evangelical and Reformed church.
