FICKES Of 889 Nineteenth street, died yesterday afternoon at 3.20 o'clock in the Altoona hospital after several months' illness. Mrs. Fickes was born Nov. 10, 1872, in Claysburg, the daughter of James and Sarah (Klutz) Dively, and married William C. Fickes Dec. 30, 1890, the couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 1940. They had resided in Altoona since 1906. Surviving are her husband, four children, Leslie R. of Ardmore, Ralph C. of Altoona, William A. of Pittsburgh, and Mildred, wife of Rev. Harry W. Witchey of Trevorton; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one brother, John of Clyde, O. Mrs. Fickes was a member of the First Lutheran church and the Brehman Bible class. Friends will be received at the Mauk & Yates funeral home after noon Saturday. Altoona Mirror, January 6, 1950
