FILER Of 423 Seventh avenue, for the past 44 years a salesman at the Altoona Coca-Cola bottling plant, died this morning at 9 o'clock at Mercy hospital, where he was admitted Saturday afternoon. He had been ill for two weeks. Born in Altoona Oct. 17, 1890, a son of Jacob and Katherine (Myers) Filer, he was married to Emma E. Barclay June 13, 1913. Surviving are the wife, a son and three daughters, Charles E. of Hartford, Conn., Mrs. Ralph Smith of Altoona and Maxine and Mrs. William McPherson, both at home; two grandchildren, and a sister and two brothers, Mrs. Annie Simpson, Albert and Frank, all of Altoona. One of the oldest employes of the Altoona Coca-Cola plant, Mr. Filer was awarded a prize in 1947 as the top salesman for the firm in the United States. He also is a former employe of Haller's Eagle bakery. Mr. Filer was a member of the Reformed church. Friends will be received at the Gilden-Barton funeral home after 7 o'clock Tuesday evening.
