After a lingering illness Mrs. Mary Fisher, wife of Michael Fisher, died at her husband's residence, No. 1506 Fifth avenue on Monday last at noon. Mrs. Fisher had been in failing health for some months. Last winter a year she was a sufferer from a dropsical affection and also was subject to heart disease. She became much better, however, during the summer, but last November was again taken sick and was confined to her bed since then until her death. Deceased was a kind neighbor, a loving wife and affectionate mother and her final simmons found her prepared, for early in life she joined the Catholic church and at the time of her death she was a member of the congregation of St. Mary's. Her husband and children will have the sympathy of their friends in their bereavement. Mrs. Fisher, whose maiden name was Falder, was born in the state of Bavaria, Germany, March 9, 1832. With Mr. Fisher she emigrated to this county in 1852, arriving in Hollidaysburg on June 24, of that year. They were married in this city in July, 1852, and had made their home here ever since. Ten children were born to them, of whom eight are living, as follows: Mary, widow of Charles Haid; Annie, widow of John B. Stehle; Mrs. Caroline Bowman, of Cincinnati; John Fisher of this city, and Misses Frances and Lizzie, Willie and George Fisher residing at home. Two sisters and two brothers of the deceased live in Germany. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, May 5, 1887, page 3
