MARTHA FLECK Mrs. Martha Cryder Fleck, one of our best and most highly respected citizens, passed away at her home, Park avenue and Eighth street, on Thursday evening at 9:30 o'clock, from diseases incident to old age. Mrs. Martha Cryder Fleck was a daughter of the late Jacob and Margaret Lewis Cryder and was born at the old homestead in Sinking Valley, October 10, 1841. With the exception of a few years spent in Tyrone, she resided in Sinking Valley. On January 3, 1861 she was united in marriage with Abraham L. Fleck, who preceded her to the grave but a short time ago. Surviving to mourn the death are these children: Mrs. A. C. Sorric, of Juniata; Mrs. Hudson Irvin, of Bellwood; Mrs. Luther H. Waring, of Washington, D.C.; Ada Fleck, at home; Professor Wilbur H. Fleck, of Kingston, Pa.; Forrest R. Fleck, of Juniata, and Abraham Ross of the old homestead in Sinking Valley. Nine grandchildren survive, together with a brother, John Crider, of Sinking Valley and a half brother, Mahlon Crider, of Tyrone and a half sister, Mrs. Belle Abraham, of Tyrone. Mrs. Fleck was a sincere Christian woman and a devoted member of the Grace Baptist church. A large circle of friends sincerely mourn the passing of this good woman. Funeral services will be conducted at the home on Eighth street, Monday morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. H. F. King, D. D., pastor of the Grace Baptist church, assisted by Rev. E. M. Morgan [?], pastor of the First English Lutheran church of Tyrone. Interment will be made at the brick cemetery at Sinking Valley. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Saturday, November 5, 1921, page 10
