DeSales, mother superior of the Visitation convent at Parkersburg, West Virginia, died in that religious institution on Sunday last. Her body was interred in the Catholic cemetery at that place. The deceased was a former resident of Altoona, and was known to the world as Mrs. Flowers. Years ago she and her husband carried on the mercantile business in Altoona, being located on Eleventh avenue near Thirteenth street. No children were born to them. On the death of her husband, Mrs. Flowers entered a convent, rising to the position which she held at the time of her death. She was pre-eminently a Christian woman. During her entire life she labored for the advancement of the cause of the Master and when death came to and called her to a better land she was ready and willing to answer the summons. Dying in the faith of the church of her choice, receiving the last sacraments from the hands of its devoted advocates, death came to her with no terrors, but rather as a means of reaching the happiness prepared by those who die in the Lord. The deceased was a sister of Mrs. Jane McClain, formerly of Altoona, but now of Philadelphia.
