From the Bedford Republican: Oliver Fluke, a well-known citizen of Hopewell township, this county, was killed on last Saturday in the following manner: He was engaged in cutting corn fodder, and while feeding the machine a small strap at the side came off the pulleys. Mr. Fluke reached over the small cog wheels to replace the strap; but his arm caught in the wheels and he was jerked down from where he stood. His head was thrown against the machine and his arm was badly crushed. His injuries were necessarily fatal and he lingered in intense agony for several hours and died about noon. The physicians were consulting about amputating his arm but he told them that it was no use as he could not live. Mr. Fluke was a good citizen and leaves a wife and twelve children surviving him.
